Next week we will learn about the letter L in our classroom. We will compare non fiction and fiction text as we read about lions and recall details from both of these types of stories. Students will also learn about the winter habits of a variety of animals when we talk about hibernation, migration, and hunting. In math, we will explore non standard and standard measurement when we read the book How Big is a Foot?. Students will use a variety of measuring tools to measure things around the classroom.
Open House is on Tuesday evening beginning at 6:30. Open House is an event you attend WITH your child. Your student will show you around our classroom and school. There is no presentation from me...it is all about your child! Open House is always an exciting time for the students of May Watts School...they love to show off their learning! Just a quick reminder, that although I am there to interact and talk to you at Open House, I am NOT available to conference about your child's progress. If you want to talk about that, please contact me and we can set up another time to do so.
Right around the corner is 100's Day! The 100th day of school is Monday, Feb. 6th. On Tuesday of next week, your child will be bringing home an at home 100's day project. Please have your child count out 100 items and glue them into this project. We would like these returned by Friday, Feb. 3rd. On 100's day we like to have a little fun and celebrate all that we have learned/done so far in Kindergarten. I have received an overwhelming number of parents willing to help with our centers on 2/6. I will have to do a lottery. I will email you if you are chosen. Thanks for being sooo supportive!!
In March we will also be going on our first field trip. The Kindergarten classes will take a bus to North Central College to see the play Sleeping Beauty. I will need 1-2 parent volunteers to attend this event as well. Information about this trip will be sent home in a few weeks.
If you are sending any envelope with your child to school for any reason.. PLEASE label the envelope with your childs name and the contents.. Example: Mrs Doranski, Lunch Money
